Photo taken from the airplane with the right hand door of the plane removed for unrestricted photographic shots. The seat belt held my dad (the cameraman) in securely. He had great confidence in the seat belt and his pilot, George Pinto. Altitude 800-1200 feet.
West Falmouth center at top left and Rte. 28, railroad tracks and crossing Chapoquoit Road. Center: Chapoquoit bridge and T. Fassett home. (The Truman Fassett home became the West Falmouth Tea Room then a summer residence for College Light Opera Players and eventually purchased by J.K. Lilly and run as a summer restaurant. Magnificent slate roofing.) The large home on the lower right became or was the Thomson estate (now owned by Dr. and Mrs. Fankhauser).
You can also make out the Jenkins Funeral Home. Across the street and up 1/4 mile and next to market set back was the home of my friend Arthur Hennessey, killed in Vietnam in the early days of war.

The old and the new-old! Town Hall, police station, post office, high school, library, Methodist Church. The new high school construction at top right. Photo taken in June or July 1951.
A lot of memories surface regarding the start of major changes to Falmouth. At about that time the fields (top center) were part of the Chute estate and Dr. Greeves estate just beyond the post office. Wow!

A super shot over water allowed for by low altitude. This photo was taken at an altitude of 500 feet or less. Being over the water, this would require a quick pull-up by pilot George Pinto.
Falmouth Heights beach and sea wall lower left. The Heights Grill had hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. at the summer restaurant. The Heights Grill eroded over the years and is currently the British Beer Company restaurant. The sea wall was replaced after much damage from Hurricane Carol.
Top of photo towards Falmouth east end currently the home of Falmouth Players. Walmart area and center-top-right to East Falmouth. Flagpole to right edge of Worcester Park.
The left of photo on the water side not pictured was the Casino by the Sea and across the street Argento House.

Falmouth Heights bluff bottom to center. Wormells Board Yard and slips, diagonally back to right is edge of MacDougals Boat Yard. Top right now buildings and housing projects. I believe from long Edwards housing overflow. Right side of Wormells Boat Yard open space now houses Flying Bridge Restaurant, a big success when first built. Bottom left foreground is Tides Motel on the water and Falmouth Yacht Club. Just across harbor entrance in the back right corner of inlet is the house of Farnsworth K and Anne Baker.
Town was realizing the boating potential for recreation and fishermen and planned the dredging project that opened up the swamp and the inner harbor was created.
Photo taken in the spring or summer of 1951.

Family members in my back yard making yearly (in the fall) apple cider. Every fall, my family would collect apples off our tree and make apple cider. Sometimes, they would make up to twenty gallons. The women were in the kitchen, making apple pies.
