Skinner Cottage, 1966, Cold Storage Beach

Comments: The Skinner Cottage was home for summer family gatherings for the family of Henry and Mary Hutchings from 1958 through 1974. After it burned down in 1975, a cottage from Wellfleet was moved.

Comments: Bob Worthington presented these maps in 1936 to Margaret (Jo) Johansen to lure her to Truro. The comments are imaginative. And yes, she visited, they married and returned to the Pamet summer after summer with their daughters Tinya, Peggoity and Jeannie, whose love for Truro remained deep in their souls.

Dyeing Fishnet

Comments: Early dyeing process - driftwood for fire, copper boiler, commercial dyeing products. After dyeing, the net was thrown into the bay. The salt water acted as mordant (to hold color). Elizabeth and Coulton Waugh, Provincetown artists, convinced and taught "Tiny" how to capture the colors of Truro in the net.

Cape Cod Fish Net Industries Work Room

Comments: Bolts of dyed fish net on rack. Bags of dyed twine hang on rack. Seamstress Francis is sewing a hat with twine and machine-made net. Martha Ingrum is at cutting table with rolled net under Tiny's arm. Table in foreground is loaded with different accessories and order forms. The work room filled one side of the building, while the sales room filled the other half.

Cloche hats, helmet hoods, Truro Bonnets, Truro Scarves and other accessories are on table. Sales girls are required to demonstrate the fish net accessories.
