Lawrence School Band Leading the Annual Halloween Parade Down Main Street
Comments: The Halloween Parade is always led by the Lawrence School band, some of whom march in costume. Then, the Mullen Hall Elementary School children in costume follow behind. The route begins at the elementary school, trails down the north side of Main Street as far as Town Hall, where they loop back towards school on the south side of Main Street.

Kevin Lynch Landed Massachusetts Army National Guard Helicopter at Boston Light
Comments: In preparation to sling-load an antique anchor and buoy from a USCG Cutter to the island. The island is a National Park in Boston's outer harbor. The USCG Helicopter could not pick up the weight of the anchor, so they asked the National Guard. Sally Snowman, the lighthouse keeper, gave us a wonderful, in-depth tour of the islands and lighthouse. She also gave tours to my family at a later date.

Shining Sea Bikeway Extension
Comments: VHB Construction Design Engineers site visit with Conservation Commission and Bikeways Committee to plan the design for the new extension of the bike path. The original bike path extended from Woods Hole to Locust Street. The town's project to extend the path to North Falmouth required extensive design and prior planning. Conservation approval was a positive step in moving the project forward.

Comments: Railroad tracks are removed from the right of way at Old Dock Road. Removing the tracks was the start of the actual construction of the Shining Sea Bikeway. The bike path will ultimately extend 10.7 miles from Woods Hole to North Falmouth.

Completed Extension of the Shining Sea Bikeway
Comments: From Woods Hole to County Road, Route 151 in North Falmouth. The Shining Sea Bikepath was officially dedicated and opened on July 2, 2009. Senator Kennedy and Representative William Delahunt provided Federal Highway funds to construct the Bikepath. Representative Delahunt spoke at the dedication. Senator Kennedy was unable to attend, but his grand-nephew Joseph Kennedy spoke in his uncle's place.
